This extraordinary, handcrafted cabochon pendant carries not only rare natural beauty, but also the rich history of California’s Gold Rush era. The gold and quartz featured in this piece were locally sourced from the historic Badger Mine in Mariposa County, California—an iconic mine first operated in the 1850s. While historical records show just over 80,000 dollars of gold were officially documented, the mine’s true story runs much deeper.
Operated by a father-and-son team until January of 1957, the Badger Mine was ultimately lost when it flooded, leaving its treasures buried and untouched for more than 70 years. Fast forward to 2025—we are proud to be uncovering this remarkable mine once again, bringing its hidden beauty back to life through one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces.
Badger Mine gold is exceptionally unique, appearing in a wide variety of natural forms including leaf gold, triangular leaf structures, crystallized and crystalline formations, and plaster gold. What truly sets it apart is the striking contrast between its buttery yellow gold and the mine’s signature milky white quartz. This rare combination is unlike gold from any other location, making each piece unmistakably distinctive.
This pendant features a beautifully polished quartz cabochon naturally laced with vibrant Badger Mine gold and finished with a 10k gold bail. No two pieces are ever the same—each tells its own story and preserves a tangible piece of California history. More than jewelry, this is a statement piece, a conversation starter, and a timeless connection to the past.
